Project Description

Modular units from Östberg save money for Brf Aspnäs

The ventilation system in Aspnäs Housing Association was installed when the properties were built in 1970. As such, it had been running for more than 40 years when it was decided that the time had come to invest in a new set-up.

Residential environments make high demands

A ventilation system used in residential buildings has to live up to stringent requirements – for several reasons. Firstly, the indoor air has a significant effect on health and well-being. And, of course, home is where we spend most of our time. So the design of a ventilation system for more than 500 apartments has a direct impact on the lives of a great many people.

Efficient reuse of exhaust air saves money

For the Brf Aspnäs project, Östberg delivered 20 exhaust air units with a total air flow of 22 m3/s. All units feature full exhaust air recovery. The association’s electricity costs fell sharply following the switch to the new ventilation system, which uses just 21 per cent of the electricity that the previous system consumed.

Compact units a precondition

Installing ventilation units in an existing property often means having to work in limited space. One of the distinguishing features of the Östberg unit is that it is remarkably compact, making it extremely suitable for projects of this kind.

Installation of the units was performed by Windefalk AB, which has more than 30 years of experience in the ventilation industry.
